Published for the exhibition Kishio Suga and Karla Black: A New Order, held at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (September 21, 2016 – February 19, 2017).

The exhibition juxtaposed Black's ephemeral installations of cotton, makeup and paint with re-creations of historical works by Suga, including Left-Behind Situation (1972/2016), Condition of Critical Boundary (1972/2016), and Edges of Gathered Realms (1993/2016).

The exhibition title "A New Order" is taken from Kishio Suga’s 2005 essay Between “Presence” and “Nothingness,” a translation of which is featured in this catalogue.
